Senator Vernon White


Senator Vernon (Vern) White was named to his role in Canada’s Parliament in 2012. As Chief of the Ottawa Police Service from 2005–12, Senator White has an extensive history in law enforcement and administration, including service with the Durham Regional Police Service in Ontario and 24 years in the ranks of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in three provinces and all Northern Territories.

Senator White holds a Bachelor of Arts (Sociology, Psychology) from Acadia University, Nova Scotia (1998), a Master of Arts (Conflict Analysis and Management) from Royal Roads University, Victoria, B.C. (2001), an Honorary Doctor of Laws from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, and a Doctor of Police Leadership, Charles Sturt University, Australia.
